I was concerned that the water lilies I put in the garden this year wouldn't make it. Instead one of them has bloomed.
The rest of the yard is blooming too.
There are three bouquets of fresh flowers here at the house that have lasted all week. I'm glad. It's been a rough week.
Someone who is back in Germany was a little homesick earlier today when we spoke and I was telling him about the lilies that were springing up in the backyard. I promised to take a few pictures.
This is the first spring here in a new house, so it's always fun to see what comes up that's been lying dormant under the ground. The beautiful Kuan Yin faces did not just spring up from the ground however, but were bought a couple of weekends ago from a California artist selling her wares at a street fair in downtown Menlo Park. The potted herbs and various flowers were also intentional.

I grabbed the camera and took some photos at Green Gulch Farm and Zen Center on Tuesday. Such a lovely day and the camera doesn't do them justice, but the colors were brilliant that day

I came home today after dinner with J. at a wonderful tapas restaurant in Mountain View (Cascal's) and found that a bouquet of flowers had been delivered; a thank you from someone who used to work for me for helping her land her new job. How thoughtful! And beautiful!
The real color is closer to the orange/reds in the close-ups below. I used the older Olympus, not the new Cannon.
